Learning to love Idaho

The only thing that can make me love cold, snowy Idaho winters are these Sperry Duck Boots. Click through to shop!

Hello and welcome to 2016!! How was your New Year's Eve?

Our family attended a family friendly party, which means we didn't have to stay up till midnight! However, we were two hours late to the party; but I have a totally good reason.

I live in Idaho, but work virtually for a company in Maryland, so I have my computer set to east coast time. When I got the Facebook event invitation I saw that it started at 6 p.m. and thought it was perfect since Jason would be home from work by then and we could go over and have a great evening.

Well, it never occurred to me that it started at 6 p.m. EST which is 4 p.m. MST. My good friend texted me at 5:55 p.m. asking if we were still coming and that's when I realized I had made a huge mistake. Luckily, my friend is super sweet and was understanding. We still got to hang out for a little bit with everyone and were home by 9:30 p.m.

I have officially learned my lesson and will be converting all my Facebook events into my time zone so I'm not ridiculously, and embarrassingly, late.

Speaking of living in Idaho, I've had a really hard time learning to love the gem state. I went to college here and loved that time but once I graduated I was kind of over it. When Jason and I decided to stay in Idaho, and then buy a house in Idaho, I knew I needed to change my attitude.

During the summer it's really easy to love this small Idaho town, but once the snow hits I'm miserable. My sweet husband, who loves Idaho, was wise enough to spoil me this Christmas with the only things that could make me like cold weather: new boots.

I wanted these Sperry Duck Boots so badly, but figured that I'd have to save up for them. Jason knew how much I wanted them and he got them for me for Christmas (along with 2 other pairs of boots. He must really, really love me.)

Now, I feel like I can take on the cold snowy winters Idaho is throwing at me while still looking really cute. Which is basically my life motto.

What pieces in your closet help you take on winter weather?
