Professional tights

This was my serious journalist look. I had an interview with the mayor and the city attorney and I wanted to be as professional as possible. Because let's face it what says "take me seriously" like a colored tights?

A hit and a big 'ol miss

I loved the outfit I wore in my last post, but today I'm not really feeling this outfit. It was one of those outfits where I was like, "Hmm I think I'll try something different today." But no one was around to tell me if I was missing the mark or if I was spot on. So, I had to go to work wearing this and then came home, edited the pictures and decided not to ever wear this combination again.

Do you have those days where you think you look great but later realize you missed the mark?

Name withheld

Who knew graduation life would be so lonely. All of my friends are either in school or have babies to take care of. My husband also has tons of homework to do everyday. It's quite the bummer.

Also, speaking of husbands having homework, I no longer have my own personal photographer. It's very hard to press the timer button and run in riding boots through the snow to snap a quick photo of yourself. Also, I think people think I'm crazy doing this in 9 degree weather. Let's be real. I probably am.

We're back

Well I'm back in Rexburg and as you can see the snow came back as well. I was loving the dry winter and I wasn't overly pleased to see all this snow covering everything when we got back into town.

In other snow news, Jason and I made a very grown-up purchase this last week. We bought snow tires! I took Jason to school last Wednesday and on my way home I got stuck in three different places. I was so frustrated! So, we decided to take the plunge and splurged for some studs. Now we have a different problem, we're really cocky! We think we can do anything when it comes to driving in the snow!

Anyway, you may have noticed my hair is a tad different. I'll try and get a better picture soon where you can really see the color!

Second day of work outfit

Shirt: Walmart, Skirt: Made by my mom, Belt: JCP, Boots:Famous Footwear

I would like for formally apologize for not blogging for like a million weeks.

Now that that's out of the way let's chat.

Life is ca-razy (pronounced like Tom Haverford would pronounce it). Graduation is two weeks away. It sounds like life could only be great with that mind set, but I'm rushing to finish all of my projects in the mean time. This week I wrote 2 papers, one of which was 10 pages. I also have to finish my senior project by next week, which is causing me a lot of stress.

I also started my new job as a reporter for the Jefferson Star this week. I was super nervous at first but so far I am loving it there! I wrote a story today for it, and it was fun (I kind of forget about how much I like writing news).

In a nutshell, life is good but busy, I hope I can make it through the next two weeks, and here's the outfit I wore on my second day of work.

How are you winding down before the holidays?

Reunited

Jacket: Marshalls , Shirt: JC Penny, Pants: JC Penny, Boots: Macy's

I have been crazy busy this semester. Working and taking 15 credits has worn me out. I have missed blogging regularly. I have also missed looking decent on a daily basis. I wake up some mornings and all I want to do is pull on jeans and a t-shirt, go to school and come back home and take a nap. Unfortunately, life wants me to be productive and get good grades. so instead of napping I do homework all day long.

Anywho, here are some pictures of a day I actually got dressed (and even did my hair!).
It was a Tuesday miracle.

The British are coming

White shirt: Down East Outfitters, Pink Shirt: The Love Capades Band, Vest: made
by my mom, Jeans: AE, Boots: Macy's

I'll be honest, I took these photos right after St. Patrick's Day and never got around to posting them. I am happy to say there is no longer snow on the ground! Life has been crazy busy! I got a promotion at work and starting today I am the Managing Editor for the BYU-Idaho Scroll. If you aren't familiar with newspaper positions {and I don't blame you!} that means I am in charge of the front and back pages of our weekly newspaper and I am in charge of making sure the layouts look good and follow the rules. If you go to BYUI and aren't impressed with the front page I sincerely apologize, I'm so scared for this new position! Hopefully I'm better at it than I think I am!

ps. the band that is on my shirt is awesome! Check them out!

Out of the box

T-shirt: JCPenny, Blouse: AE, Pants: Lucky, Boots: F21, Necklace: free-piled

I have a secret love for wearing t-shirts as sweaters over blouses. It makes me feel very versatile. I was trying to do something different with this outfit to get out of my comfort zone. I was inspired by a few different things. One was Kendi and her sweater layering with spring colors. Another was Lizzie and her tutorial on colored jeans. I don't have any colored jeans but this was my change from plain old blue jeans.

It was fun to do something different. I think I'm going to try and do this a little more often. I've been so bored with my closet lately, but this trial really helped me see that I can work with what I have. {just don't tell my husband, I'm trying to convince him to let me go shopping!}

Weekends

Shirt: JC Penny, T-shirt: AE, Pants: AE, Socks: Costco, Boots: AE

I seriously wish weekends were longer...or that I didn't have to work all weekend...that would probably fix things.

Jason and I went to the gym with our friends on Friday. We have been feeling it all weekend long. I did 20 squats with a medicine ball, and couldn't walk afterwards! I have never gotten sore so quickly. Jason was ok Friday night and Saturday morning, but come Saturday night he was getting sore. It's been an interesting weekend trying to walk and pick up heavy objects. Hopefully we recover in time to go the gym tomorrow!

Where are you spring time?

Cardigan: F21, Shirt: F21, Pants: AE, Boots: Macy's,
Pearls: Icing, Silver necklace:AE

It has been a really mild winter, and I have loved every minute of it. I'm really not into the whole snow thing unless it means staying inside all day with a chick flick and a cup of hot cocoa. Unfortunately, snow in Rexburg does not allow it, they make you walk to class and get blown over by the wind.

I have been looking forward to spring for quite some time now. Alas, winter has decided to make an appearance pushing back my beloved spring. Hopefully the snow will melt soon and daffodils will start making an appearance.

Issues with dresses and tights

Dress: made by my mom, Cadigan: Target, Scarf: borrowed from my sister,
Belt: Maurice's, Tights: F21, Boots: Macy's, Bracelet: gift from AZ

Yesterday when I was in need of new clothes
I decided these bright tights could spice up my wardrobe
without running to the nearest mall.
However, I've discovered tights are not friends with this skirt.
My dress was constantly hiking up, and embarrassing me quite a bit.
I found my dress tucked up and exposing more that I wanted.
Does this only happen to me?

It's time

Shirt (yellow): Target, Shirt (white): Down East Outfitters, Scarf: Esprit
Pants: AEO, Boots: Macy's, Watch: Target

While getting dressed this morning I realized something,
I need new clothes.
I was searching Pinterest for some inspiration,
and I realized I hate everything I own.
{that's not entirely true...}
I also need a pair of black shoes.
All the black shoes I own are worn out
I may or may not have tried to justify wearing a pair of
boots that no longer had a heel.
{it's getting bad...}
I'm thinking I need another thrifting outing with my girls...

How do you shop on a budget?

Dance-walking

Skirt: (actually a dress) Nautical, Shirt: F21, Belt: JC Penny, Boots, Macy's
Neckalaces: pearls: Icing, other necklace: vintage

I have a slightly embarrassing habit.
When I listen to music while I walk I actually dance.
Proof:

and apparently I make that cute face...fun.
It's a dangerous thing to do.
One time I was dance-walking and this guy stared at me
and I saw him laughing.
Letting me know that dance-walking is not socially acceptable.
It made me sad.
I hate walking
(it's the slowest form of transportation in the world!!)
so dance-waling makes things a little bit better.

Do you dance-walk?
(or is it just me?!?!?)
